Creative Cardmaking Issue 18 is now available in your local craft store and it contains a project I made (the title of the blog post gives it away a bit!) I was so excited when I created the template for my exploding hexagon box and it actually worked. I have to say that the work that went into creating a template for something like this was a little more than I anticipated but the image of a exploding carousel was swirling around in my head and I was determined to make one - actually my template worked first time which was great news for meeting my deadline!
This is what the box looks like:
and this is what happens when you remove the lid:
You can't really tell from the photograph but the centre scalloped circle is on a spring so it hovers in the middle of the box :)
The magazine has a page devoted to the template but I do have a digital version of it which I can email to anyone who would like to print it out. Obviously, reading the article in the magazine will help to understand how to use the template and provides instructions on how to construct the hexagon box and the lid. I bought the carousel horse (digi stamp) from My Graphico.
Here is the matching card:
I really enjoyed making this, it is such fun and looks wonderful in real life! The magazine have sent it back already and it is sitting in my craft room.
There's lots of inspiration in this issue so keep an eye out for it in your local craft shop (or online!).
