This week I signed up for Christy Thomlinson's She Art Workshop and I can't tell you how glad I am that I did! Her teaching style is so friendly but also very detailed and she has made making my own canvas such fun and so easy. I can paint! Who knew? The most I have ever done with acrylic paint before is swipe it on a layout or paint a chipboard letter.
So after watching tons of videos (this class is amazing!) and taking a day or two to pluck up the courage to start I set to making something of my own so this is my very first canvas (ever!) and I couldn't be more thrilled with it!
I used just plain old Anita's acrylic paints, distress ink, rub-ons, impasto gel, Ranger Gel Medium, Tim Holtz tissue tape, bubble wrap (to stamp with), a ticket, a tag, zig writers (waterproof and I have every colour!), Hero Arts Fern stamp and Polka Dot stamp, Papermania stamps, Prima papers to make her dress, a button, a charm, an old dictionary for her face and legs, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and finally some tissue paper to cover the canvas before I started.
I mixed the skin colour myself as I didn't have an appropriate colour and her rosy cheeks were made with the glimmer mist which was also sprayed and smeared on the canvas in places. Christy doesn't put faces on her girls but I have added a pair of lips to mine, I think it looks cute.
Here are some close ups.
Oooh, get me! I am an artist :D xx
