AKA - West Park Hoodie in my house!
I have been wanting to knit the Central Park Hoodie ever since I first saw the pattern and that was a looooong time ago. I finally started to knit it last month and I got it finished with the buttons sewn on yesterday. I love it just as much as I thought I was going to and I am definitely going to be knitting another one of these!
I knitted it in this khaki colour to match a coat I have from Fat Face, it will look really nice under it with the hood hanging out, if you know what I mean :)
I used Hayfield Bonus Aran (Green Heather) for this and I am very impressed with the yarn because it knits up lovely and soft and has good definition for the cables and most off all you I only used just over one of the massice 400g balls to make this which means it cost about £12, including the buttons, to do it :)
I made a couple of changes to the pattern. I changed the shoulder shaping to short row shaping on the sides and back so that I could seam them using the three needle bind off. I also used a three needle bind off for the hood seam because I love how neat it looks. The other change I made was to cast off the button bands using an iCord bind off because I think it gives a more 'finished'/professional look.
I also made the sleeves longer because I like it when they come down over my hands a bit, the cuff is so long that if I needed the sleeves to be at my wrists I can just fold them up.
The only other alteration I made was to sew a straight line across the tip of the hood about 1.5" from the tip so that the hood was less pointy, coming from Cornwall I am already referred to as a pixie and a pointy head quite enough thank you very much without my hood emphasising it! It worked perfectly.
You can see what I mean in the above photograph, see how the end of the hood is squared off a bit? It looks much better when you have it up.
I really, really love this cardigan.
