Happy Sunday :)
I am back to showing you each of the crochet blankets I made last year. Today I am going to show you the Call the Midwife blanket.
This crochet blanket was so simple and quick to make yet it looks beautiful! I love the vintage feel to it. I got the pattern from a blog called Little Monkey's Crochet.
I believe the owner of the blog, Rebecca, worked the pattern out from a blanket she saw on the television series Call the Midwife, she later found out that this had been a pattern published many years ago by Patons (Pattern Booklet 9930), which is probably where the Call the Midwife production team found it, they obviously wanted vintage style blankets to match the era of the show.
I really loved making this blanket and I had been looking at it for a long time so I couldn't help but make it as a pram cover when my friend and neighbour was expecting :)
I made mine 9 squares by 11 squares and it was the perfect size for a pram or pushchair. I would make it larger if I was making a 'proper' baby sized blanket, probably double the size. I can't measure it as I obviously don't have it anymore. I used Stylecraft Special DK in white because, although it is acrylic, I can't even exaggerate how soft it is for an acrylic yarn but the most important part is that it makes the gift easy to care for.
Most importantly, my friend loved this blanket!
