It's been a long time since I did anything constructive in my craft room but this week I decided it was time to make the change and I am so glad I did! I have been having so much fun, I definitely need to make the time to do this because it makes me happier, more able to cope with looking after 3 kids. I think it is better for them if I take time for myself because it helps to keep me relaxed and treat 'occurances' with a more joyful heart.
Firstly, I wanted to get messy, drag out the paints, matte medium and inks, so I started an art journal page. It's not finished (obviously) but I have got down the background and added a stamped Prima art doll whose dress I paper pieced. I coloured her hair, arms and legs with Copic markers and then shaded around her with a pitt artist pen in brown (I think it was a sepia one).
I love this 'girl' stamps, she is the only one I have I may have to rectify that situation!
After I (didn't) complete this I grabbed a pencil and started to sketch. I don't know why really, I wasn't really thinking about it but I just started to draw a face. 'Could I do it?' was probably what was going through my mind because I want to do a large face in my art journal and I was really happy with the results. The next step is to try and paint one - eeek, I 'll keep you posted!
and then I sketched some more...
As you can see I just did this in my Midori notebook on very lightweight paper. It's a shame really as I would like to use the larger face for something and I really can't draw so the chance of me producing something I like as much in another sitting is minimal, I will just keep practicing and hope for the best. Perhaps I can stick her on a page with matte medium.
Most of this time Amy was in the craft room with me and then Charlotte came in and joined in too. I am cultivating a new generation of crafters. Love it!
